October 2009 I began my journey in Medical Device Reprocessing at the Halifax Infirmary as a casual technician in training. I quickly completed the Sterile Supply Technician Course from Vancouver Community College and I was awarded a full time position as a technician at the Halifax Infirmary Site in 2010. I held many different roles within the department including; resource staff for Steam Sterilization, Decontamination, and Flexible Endoscopes. In 2015, I was awarded a year position as the Lead Charge Person. I was the first contact point for any issues that arise within the department. I really enjoy taking on leadership roles so I decided to take a challenging leap to the Victoria General Hospital and accepted the Team Lead/Liaison role in 2017. I had to learn all of the new services and the challenges with infrastructure. Over the years, I have participated in many different educational opportunities and presented to staff members to enhance the knowledge within the department. I realized that teaching is my passion, so in 2019, I accepted the Provincial Medical Device Reprocessing Educator position and am currently employed with Inter-Professional Practice & Learning.

I have been a member of MDRANS since 2009, and currently sit on the executive as chair of memberships. I have also held two terms as Secretary from 2013 – 2017.

I live on the Eastern Shore with my husband who I have been with for over 17 years. We have two adorable active boys aged 8 and 5, and a 1-year-old puppy that keep us on our toes. We love to spend time at our cottage with family and friends.
